Enjoying radio control vehicles got a little bit better with this toy. Most vehicles go forward, backward, turn, and run at different speeds. Here is a toy that could be converted to a decent scale (close) model and goes beyond just moving around. This crane can lift items (fairly strong for a toy), as well as having a movable boom, pivots, and has sound. Here is what the crane looks like out of the box:
Modifying the Crane
The crane was disassembled to make a number of modifications. This including a much longer boom, more details and switches to disable the caterpillar track for when it is located on a barge. A slip ring was added to enable continuous turning.
Currently, the crane traverses too fast and must be slowed down. Also, the base needs to be made wider so the tracks are further apart.
