About
When building a 1/16 scale diorama for RC armor, buildings, trees, and many other things enhance the "area of operations". So why not have a river and bridge.
Here Lew will go into the basics, the bridge itself, but also include a "river" and shoreline.
This bridge is one of our oldest "accessories" and has been in use for about ten years.
Making the 1/16 scale Bridge
The bridge itself is made from plywood (sides) and hardboard (roadway). It is wide enough for every 1/16 scale tank to pass over and is about five feet long. A final coat of a stone textured paint was applied to bridges sides and the roadway was painted gray but is marked by a lot of "tank traffic".
The "river" is made using common blue plastic tarp. It was given a very light green spray (paint) applied in on direction to simulate a slight wind/wave movement. Along the shores some tan or light brown was added to simulate the shallow water.
The "grass" is artificial (of course) simulating growth along the water's edge. It also helps hold down the tarp in case of wind. The "river" is about twelve feet long which fits our current needs. We might have to make it longer in a different area.
