Springer #3 is based on a real Pushboat, the "Jonda Ann", spotted only a few hundred yards (~meters) from the pond where the Suncoast Scale Model Boat Club operates. This model is based on a Zippkits Springer tug kit (hull and deck). Most of the upper part of the boat is maded from Lew's designs and 3D prints.
The Real Boat
The Jonda Ann was involved in moving a dredging barge on Lake Seminole (Seminole, Florida), deepening and clearing out debri from the lake's bottom. With the unique livting boom, the Jonda Ann was maneuvering the large ducting hose around. One part was from the barge to the lake's bottom and another hose to the retention/fill area.

The Model
The model is defined in 1/16 scale with measurements for the various parts taken from photographs by Lew at Lake Seminole. Nost of the items and details were 3D printed as you can see the 3D design concept of the pilot house in the last photo.
