About
This Jeep start out as a radio controlled toy (JJRC no. C8815) to play with. It is a fun vehicle and close to scale. With so many versions of this model/toy modified by others, this one is converted to be something different by modifying the jeep through the use of custom add-ons (mostly 3D printed) and modifications.
This vehicle reflects a WWII Military Police (MP) jeep. Markings were changed, and other items such as the radio, canvas "summer" top, a flashing light, and even a siren were added. (The siren and light are controlled on/off using the winch accessory channel through the transmitter.)
The two 3D printed MP figures were added. Information on how those were created is also added to this page. They are "JJ" and "RC", (that is why this jeep is called JJRC).

3. "JJ" and "RC" - the "MP" guys:
The MP characters were created on Chatpgt by asking for a WWII US Army character seated and driving. This created a 2D or photo character. The 2D AI generated character (actually both were the same but later modified) was brought into Meshy and converted into a 3D "stl" file. The printed figures took a lot of clean-up work. That was scaled to match the jeep's 1/10 scale. The characters were printed on an FDM printer using ABS. The arm, waist, knees, and shins were cut to fit properly into the jeep, and cemented back together. The joints were filled and sanded. The helmets on the figures were pretty ugly looking so Lew cut off the tops and 3D using a different file at 1/10 scale.
Added to the figures were 3D printed 45 holstered pistols, canteens, and a Thompson sub-machine gun for the sergeant (passenger seat).

The two MP figures at the right are:
- Sgt "JJ" who will be carrying a Thompson sub-machine gun.
- Cpl "RC" is the driver.
4. About the Flashing Light and Siren:
How they work:
Following the diagram to the right, power for the siren and the "MP" front LED is supplied via a 9V battery located in the engine compartment. This power turned on and off by the relay contacts. The relay is activated when the "Retract" switch for the winch on the controller is pressed. (Rather than hold the button continuously, jump a slide switch across the winch button to turn the LED/siren on and off. This requires opening the controller and cutting holes for the slide switch. Use caution to get the polarity right.)

The parts used to make the items are as follows:
Flashing MP light (front of vehicle): Light housing is 3D printed (ABS). The LED is hobby item with flashing circuit.
Speaker: Spare small 4 ohm speaker mounted inside a specifically designed 3D printed housing.
Sound board: Inexpensive kit.
Relay: Polou SPDT Relay Carrier with 5VDC Relay, no. 2480
Battery: 9V standard battery with Velcro strap to hold it in place. This powers the LED and the sound board.
5. About the "Radio":
The "radio (SCR-510) is a 3D model that I made and is available on Cults. I also have files for the handset, vibration isolating stand, antenna and the rear facing bracket.

6. About the "Canvas" Top:
The "Canvas" summer top ("canopy") was actually designed and 3D printed by Lew. The pattern was developed from photos from real jeep photos, both from WWII as well as modern day restored vehicles. The canopy is composed from three main pieces (front, middle, rear) as well as new bows (ribs), and a few small inner support brackets. The original bows were not usable as there was a problem with the length of the sides. They were designed to look good in the down (stored) position but were not usable to support the canopy.
The design of the top is to have everything cemented together, the canopy pieces, bows, and underside supports (6). This keeps the top in place very well. There are also tie-down straps along the back bottom. They are made from a stretchable flat cord and will be hooked to the tie-down handles along the rear of the jeep. Holes for locating these handles are drilled using the locating template supplied with the canopy files. The handles must be made by the builder out of .031 diameter brass/copper wire and cemented into place. (See directions.)
Installation: The canopy is designed to be held firmly in place while the model is in motion. The canopy is NOT IMPACT RESISTANT and can be broken by abuse. If you want to remove the canopy and run the jeep you can use the original canopy supplied with the model.
